Let Us Finish The Race!

In 2009 we finally finished the church building, passed all
government inspections, and officially moved into the building. This has been a long journey full of perils, trials and triumphs. Thank you all who have traveled with us. For those who don’t know the history, in 2001 a group of believers in Kardjali, Bulgaria felt God leading them to build a permanent
building towards the center of this predominately Muslim city. They acquired a tract of land near downtown and contracted with a builder to erect the building. The contract was for 136,000 Bg Lev
and the building was to be completed in 18 months. The project started fine, each month progress was made and payments were given. However after the first year the progress began to slow and by 2005 the building was still not complete and all work had stopped. In the end we were forced to hire other builders to complete the work. When the original builder provided his final bill for work completed through
2005, the amount was three times higher than the contract. After two years of failed negotiations we entered the courts to resolve the matter. He sued for a total 309,000 Bg Lev. The courts appointed two separate auditors to review the records and in October of 2010 the courts ruled in the church’s favor. The ruling stated the total dollars owed plus costs was 151,464 Bg Lev. Since we had made progress payments of 77,484 Bg Lev we need to pay an additional 73,980 Bg Lev. The builder has appealed the ruling and is still pressing for the full amount. The appeal will probably be heard sometime late January 2011. Assuming we win the appeal we will have 14 days afterwards to pay the monies owed or the
builder can request the sheriff to sell the building to settle the debt. Over the Past 5 years Hosanna! a church in Lititz, Pennsylvania has partnered with us to bring the church to it’s current
state of completion and is now helping to raise funds to settle with the builder. At the current exchange rate the amount needed is $52,700 US Dollars. At first this seemed like a daunting task but then the Lord
reminded me that all things are possible for those who trust in the Lord, and if 527 people give $100.00 each then we will reach our goal. This greatly encouraged me.
Therefore, we invite you to join us in the last leg of this race. Hosanna! will be hosting a Breakfast and Informational meeting on Saturday January 15, 2011 to raise the needed funds.
